James Fellows
- Founder and President Emeritus

Children's TV is not a calling for those who wish to become rich or famous. Rather, it is for those who both like and respect children, and want to harness the power of the media to engage, entertain and inspire them. Even in a highly competitive industry, most children's TV professionals love sharing experiences and insights about their work.
James A. Fellows, 2004

In addition to the ACCM, Fellows was President of the American Telecommunications Group (successor to CEN), which ceased operations in 2003, and The Hartford Gunn Institute. He is Chairman of the Publishing Committee for Current, a biweekly publication directed to public broadcasting and educational telecommunications personnel nationwide.

Formerly, Fellows served as both Director and Chair of the Independent Television Service, financed by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He is President-Emeritus of the Maryland Public Broadcasting Foundation Board of Directors.

While serving as President of the National Association of Educational Broadcasters, in Washington, D.C., he received the Ralph Lowell Award for special contributions in advancing professional development in public broadcasting.

Fellows is a Syracuse University alumnus with an M. S. degree in communications. For six years, he was Assistant Professor in both the graduate and undergraduate communications programs of the university.
The ACCM, guided by leaders in children’s TV and digital media production and distribution:

Convenes its Executive Roundtable for forthright discussion of industry issues, and to consider solutions or strategies that are child-friendly, responsible and sustainable;

Offers insight and guidance on emerging and ongoing issues that influence our craft and business, challenging current practices as necessary;

Serves as a public voice for the children’s media industries where feasible;

Continually amasses up-to-date research, news and writings about children and media, from which it digests, analyzes and disseminates information on trends and themes;
Nothing in this industry-wide effort in any way diminishes individual companies’ freedom to act strategically or in their own best interests.
